What is FSSAI?

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is the apex regulatory body established under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. It is responsible for ensuring food safety and regulating the manufacture, storage, distribution, sale, and import of food in India.Β Every Food Business Operator (FBO) in India must obtain either FSSAI Registration or FSSAI License, depending on the scale and nature of operations.

Three categories:

  • FSSAI Basic Registration – for petty food businesses and small-scale operators
